| Callsign | Exact VATSIM callsign (e.g., JFK_TWR) |
Yes |
| Callsign Pattern | Regex for flexible matching (e.g., JFK_.*_TWR) |
No |
| Display Name | Full position name (e.g., Kennedy Tower) | No |

| Default Page | Page shown when this position logs in | No (default: 0) |
| Supervisor | Position has elevated privileges | No (default: false) |
Callsign vs Callsign Pattern
The Callsign field is the exact VATSIM callsign that must match. The Callsign Pattern is an optional regex for more flexible matching.
Example
A position with a VATSIM callsign
A position with a VATSIM callsign
PHX_S_TWR and pattern PHX_*S_TWR would match controllers signed on as PHX_S_TWR, PHX_1S_TWR (relief), etc.
Channel Display Settings
These settings control how the position appears on the channel grid.
| Field | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Channel Short Name | Bold text on the channel button | Position Short Name |
| Channel Display Name | Smaller text and tooltips | Position Display Name |
| Channel Color | Border color (hex code) | #4A90A4 |
The editor includes a Preview showing how the channel button will appear:

Supervisor Positions
Checking Supervisor Position grants elevated privileges:
- Shown with a yellow "SUP" badge in the position list
- Shown with a "SUP" badge on the consolidation tree
- May have additional capabilities in future updates
Deleting Positions
- Select the position in the list
- Click the Delete link
- Confirm the deletion
Orphaned Channels
Deleting a position orphans its channel. Orphaned channels appear in red in the Channel Grid Editor and should be deleted. There is no way to re-associate an orphaned channel with a position, as it generally indicates a depricated DB.

Searching Positions
Use the search box to filter positions by:
- Callsign (e.g., "TWR" finds all tower positions)
- Display Name (e.g., "Kennedy")
- Short Name (e.g., "JFK")
Click the X button to clear the search.
Best Practices
- Callsigns - Use exact VATSIM format (ICAO_TYPE or ICAO_#_TYPE)
- Short Names - Keep to 3-5 characters for grid readability
- Colors - Use consistent colors for position types:
- Towers - one color family
- Approach/Departure - another color family
- Center - another color family
- Patterns - Use callsign patterns for positions with variable suffixes
