Getting Started with Landline

Landline is a modern VoIP coordination application designed specifically for VATSIM Air Traffic Control. It provides real-time voice communication between controllers, featuring position-based calling, override broadcasts, monitoring, and conference capabilities.

What is Landline?

Landline replaces traditional telephone landlines with a modern, integrated voice coordination system. Controllers can:

Download

  1. Visit the Download page
  2. Enter the beta access password (provided by your facility's FE or ATM)
  3. The installer Landline-Setup-x.x.x.exe will download automatically

Installation

  1. Run the downloaded Landline-Setup-x.x.x.exe installer
  2. If Windows SmartScreen appears, click "More info" then "Run anyway"
  3. Accept the license agreement
  4. Choose installation location (default recommended)
  5. Click "Install" and wait for completion

Firewall Configuration

On first launch, Windows will prompt for firewall access. This is required for WebRTC voice communication.

  1. Check both "Private networks" and "Public networks"
  2. Click "Allow access"
Required Ports
If using third-party firewall software, ensure UDP ports 10000-20000 are open for WebRTC TURN/STUN traffic.

Auto-Updates

Landline automatically checks for updates on launch. When a new version is available, a notification appears. Click "Update Now" to download and install the update automatically.

Uninstalling

To uninstall Landline:

  1. Open Windows Settings
  2. Navigate to Apps → Apps & features
  3. Search for "Landline"
  4. Click Uninstall
